Volcafe works with internationally recognised standards – including our own Volcafe RS Standard – to offer a wide range of responsibly sourced coffees.

With our vision to build a thriving, sustainable coffee business for all, Volcafe understands its role in responsible sourcing and is actively driving change in our industry.

We know that the farmers we work with and the customers we trade with – not to mention our own business – all rely on a shift away from the old approach that viewed coffee as some commodity, and toward relationships that respect the interdependencies in our value chains.

Volcafe has long worked with its own Volcafe Way approach as well as numerous third-party certification and roaster standards to provide responsibly sourced coffees.

In 2023, we expanded our offer through an enhanced Volcafe RS programme that draws on the deep experience of our Volcafe Way farmer support programme, while also meeting the emerging consensus on best practice in the coffee sector. This led to the creation of our Volcafe RS Standard and its two levels of practice: Volcafe Verified and Volcafe Excellence.
