Founded 1996

And part of Volcafe's 170+ year history.

Volcafe’s involvement in Ethiopia dates back to 1966, when coffee purchases were done by Volkart Brothers through an Ethiopian agent for 30 years. In 1996, the decision was made to establish a Commercial Representative Office (CRO), with a quality control laboratory and a team focused on conducting purchases from Ethiopian exporters.

Volcafe’s CRO in Addis Ababa has been actively operating since 1996. We currently have a strong team of eight professionals and a fully equipped QC coffee lab, where samples from scores of suppliers we work with are meticulously evaluated before approval for shipment. Our team of logistics experts closely follow the execution process.

As one of the top buyers of Ethiopian coffees, we are active in the whole range of qualities that the Ethiopian coffee industry produces. From fully traceable specialty lots produced in the highlands of Guji and Yirgacheffe, to premium grade washed coffees of Sidama, to commercial grade conventional naturals of the Western highlands of Jimma and Lekempt, the team focuses its energy on ensuring that clients’ quality requirements are fully adhered to.
